What this department does
The commercial team controls the money on a construction project. They decide what a scheme is tendered at, track what it actually costs as it is built, agree payments with subcontractors, and settle the final account. In housebuilding and development, the commercial function is the difference between a site that makes its margin and one that quietly loses it.
These are among the hardest roles in construction to fill. Good commercial people move quickly and are rarely on the open market for long, which is why most of our clients come to us rather than advertising.
